The Cost of a Luxury Bali Honeymoon

Bali is one of the most-searched honeymoon destinations for Australian couples, and yet almost nobody in the luxury travel industry will publish a straight answer to the question travellers actually want asked: **what does a proper Bali honeymoon really cost?**

So — here it is, from someone who books them every week. Prices are quoted in Australian dollars for a couple, per-night or per-experience, based on quotes we currently hold for travel between May 2026 and October 2027. Prices in Bali have risen roughly 25% since 2019; the numbers below reflect post-pandemic reality.

In Bali, the villa or resort is almost always the largest single line item. Because you're not stopping in a city or moving every night, the accommodation compounds. Here's what real luxury actually costs per night for two:

**Boutique 4-star, Ubud or Seminyak** — from **$400–$700/night**. Good for a few nights but not the whole trip.

**Como Uma Ubud, Bulgari Uluwatu, Alila Villas Uluwatu, Nihi Sumba** — **From~$1,600/night**. This is where most of our couples spend the middle of their honeymoon.

**Amankila, Amandari, The Legian Sire, Capella Ubud tented suites** — **From~$3,000/night. The showpiece hotels. Two or three nights of these make a whole trip.

**Private villa rental (3–4 bedroom, cliff-side or ricefield)** — **From~$2,500/night** if you want your own pool, kitchen, staff and driver.

**Private chauffeur and vehicle** — $150–$220/day for a hotel-standard SUV and driver. Non-negotiable in Bali. Traffic makes taxis a false economy.

**Private guide (English-speaking, culturally trained)** — From~$250. For temple mornings and cultural experiences. Not needed every day.

**Fine dining, two per day** — **From~$180/couple/day**. Restaurants like Locavore in Ubud, Merah Putih and Mozaic have become world-class. Book weeks in advance.

**Signature experiences** — private cooking class From~($300 couple), sunset yacht charter ($1,200–$2,500 couple), Ayung River rafting with champagne finish From~ ($600 couple), Balinese blessing ceremony at a private temple From~($800 couple).

**Domestic flights and boat transfers to Nusa Lembongan or Nusa Penida** — From~$150 per person one way.

Based on 7 nights, two travellers, everything included except international flights:

**Comfortable luxury — From~$12,000AUD.** Como Uma Ubud + Alila Uluwatu, private driver throughout, six fine-dinings, two signature experiences. Suits couples on their first honeymoon or a five-year anniversary. Achievable, memorable, unshowy.

**Considered luxury — From~ $25,000 AUD.** Amandari + Bulgari Uluwatu, private butler-serviced villa in Sumba for a finale, private cultural guide, chef-hosted dinners, yacht charter, boutique jeweller visit for custom rings. This is the honeymoon most of our couples book. Every night moves the needle.

**No-compromise luxury — From~ $60,000 AUD.** Amankila + Nihi Sumba villa + Capella Ubud tented suite, private domestic flights, a hosted boat charter across the Wallacea archipelago, an anthropologist as your cultural guide. Rarely booked, but every couple who does calls it the trip of a lifetime.

**Skip:** the 'welcome flower bath' add-on From~($400+ that costs the hotel $40), pre-booked spa packages (better to book on arrival based on how you feel), champagne breakfasts in-room (the mangoes in Bali are the real luxury), and any 'seven nights, seven villas' itinerary that has you packing every second morning.

**Prioritise:** two great villas rather than four average ones. A private chef dinner over a fine-dining restaurant on your final night. Ubud early in the trip while you're jet-lagged; the coast at the end when you want to swim, sleep and eat.
